Dear people, I have a few questions that I am hoping you can
help me with, so please feel free to comment (;
1) When you renew your passport in Malaysia,
do they let you keep your old one?
2) Does anyone know if there is a room for rent in
the KL Bukit Bintang area?
3) What is Emperor Chicken?
Does anyone know the true name and origin? Cos I cooked it the
other day and the family took surprisingly well
to it. But when I told Daddy, he asked me what Emperor Chicken
was, and I. was. stumped.

1) No. They throw your new one at you through the plexiglass window (a finely honed skill as the hole is small) and keep your old one. Then they hold a funny passport picture contest and determine the winner. At least I think that's what goes on...hence the ambiguous "YOU MAY ALREADY BE A WINNER" fliers that I always seem to get in the mail...
2) I know this isn't helpful, but yes, I know that there are rooms available in the Bukit Bintang area. I just don't know the details. Sorry.
3) Hmmm...even online searches don't turn up much. Errr...good luck finding it. Please tell us about it if you do find anything out.
1. Yes they do, they just snip the top right hand corner of the passport cover and return it back to you.
2. Wouldn't have a clue.
3. Is it similar to this?
Beggar's Chicken
This is a wonderful story. A homeless, starving beggar is wandering along a road when he catches sight of a chicken. Desperate for food, he kills the chicken by wringing its neck. Lacking a stove, he covers the chicken in mud, makes a fire and bakes it. (One version has him plucking the feathers off the chicken as he eats).
At this point an Emperor passes by with his entourage. Attracted by the aroma of the baked chicken, he stops and dines with the beggar, demanding to know how he created such a delicious meal. "Beggar's chicken" is subsequently added to the list of dishes served at the Imperial court.
This story has a footnote. In "The Chinese Kitchen", Eileen Yin-Fei Lo notes that people are not always happy with the name of the dish. In Beijing you'll sometimes see Beggar's Chicken called "Fu Guai Gai," or "Rich and Noble Chicken."
I'm only gonna try answering question number 1...No, they don't, at least they didn't let me keep mine. I've got a small stamp on the last page of my current passport stating what my previous passport number was and that it was cancelled and returned to the immigration department.
and Aja...you're the cow for not replying...lol!
Now this is tres confusing.
1) 2 to 1 wor. Some say yes some day no. Nick, did you specifically ask for it? its just that I have to renew mine next year and I really dont want to lose all my visas, it helps to have them in my history when applying for new ones.
2)Rooms? Hello anyone with suggestions, friends etc? Please la ask.
3) So apparently Beggar's Chicken and Emperor's Chicken are the same la? That means when people ask me what I am cooking I can tell them depending on my mood, optimistic or pessimistic eh?
Kev: I knew I would one day kena for that. I shall reply in due time. By this year. I promise.
u get to keep it

i have 2 old ones alredi now

Hi Aja,
there are a couple of service apartments near BB (bukit ceylong changkat bb) going for between 6 to 8k per month for a 1+1.
the going rate for the normal apartments there would be 5k upwards.
probably best ask an agent. i was checking for one a few months back.
Hi aja, I am the one asking you about the au-pair program in the previous entry.
I wish to know more about it because I am planning to go to the States for this program too.
Mind if you tell me more about it?
Cause yours seem interesting and I would like to find a host family like yours as well =)
Thank you
Cel: Babe ah, what if being 'lame' is the new 'in' thing? Hahaha I am lame too (= Miss you la. IN June I come and we go capture Penang on umm..digital k?
Juls, thank you for telling me (= Yay!
Sic: Thanks, but I am searching for a room, not an apartment (= for my younger cousin who's taking a course near there.

ok...correction...i met my migration agent yesterday, and he reckons, 'bearer previously travelled on passport number xxxxxxxx which was cancelled and RETURNED' means they gave it back to me. well, that pretty much means i lost my fuckin passport. bah. ja, just potostet your passport, that way you still get to keep all you references...women...tsk tsk...
