Having a name like Aja
really doesn't make my life any easier
granted, it can be a great ice-breaker
or
point of conversation when one is
really left with nothing else to say
but most times
it just serves to complicate
even the easiest of transactions.
Take going to the florist for example
(both my grandmothers got individual bouquets, handpicked by moi)
and by handpicked, i mean from buckets in refrigerators
I tell the florist I'll pick it up later
"Your name miss?" she inquires
"Aja" says I
"oh Eh-ja.."
"No, A-ja"
"Asia?"
"Nevermind my name is Ms. Ng, N - G ", I spell it out
"oh okay" she says, writing it down.
We dicuss a few minor details,
then I tell her I ll pick up the bouquets at 7.45.
"Bye Angie, thanks!" she trilled
as I swung out of the door.

Usually when I'm not sure how to pronounce someone's name, I just go with princess. Then again, all ladies get called princess by me at some stage or other. :P
I think most guys are OK with woay, I've never yet met a guy who insisted on being called princess.
Angie,
That's very funny...!
Ur namesake, an ex-porn star, who starred in Family 'Thighs' pronounces it Asia.
thank you for that wonderful information des...
