Self satisfaction perhaps? Knowing that you aren't just another talentless salary monkey just trying to scrape through the day by doing the least possible without getting caught?
and the people who do matter will notice...
The Bard: Yeah I guess, knowing I tried unselfishly, for the right reasons is satisfactory. No one has to notice really. But it always gets us sentimental fools. Anyways it wasn't regarding work, more personal matters.
